1972 Datsun 240z
I'm the third owner of this car, and am selling it because I've run out of garage space. This Z is NOT some half-finished project thats been sitting in someone's driveway for years; it is a sorted, well-maintained, reliable daily driver. The chassis has 246k miles. Engine was rebuilt by previous owner 115k miles ago.
-ABSOLUTELY RUST-FREE car has been only in AZ and CA
-2.4L inline 6 engine, runs great and does not consume oil
-Weber DGV carbs
-5-speed transmission from '81 ZX shifts smoothly
-Virtually all weatherstripping, rubber gaskets, grommets and boots on body have been replaced
-Pioneer head unit with MP3/WMA/Ipod capability, Motorsport custom rear panel with 6x9 speakers
-Fuse block upgraded to modern blade-type fuses
-New Tokico Blue struts
-Suspension and steering are tight, car drives and handles great.
-New Yokohama tires (225/60/14)
-Carpets and seat upholstry have been replaced
-All lights, switches, gauges work (except as noted below)
-4-core radiator, car never runs hot, even in crawling summer traffic
-Dealer-installed items include AC, 14" slot wheels and rear window louvers.
-8 year old acrylic enamel paint
-Gear reduction starter from ZX
-Optima Battery
-New heater hoses
-All fuel tank vent lines and delivery lines recently replaced, including tank filler tube
-Speed bleeders on brakes and MC
-All keyed locks work and use original key, except ignition cylinder was replaced and uses different key.
-Comes with original 1972 Nissan Factory Service Manual
-Other items that have been replaced: distributor & cap & rotor, radiator hoses, heater hoses, spark plug wires, alternator, crankshaft damper, fuel pump, brake hoses, master cylinder, poly sway bar bushings, front and rear bumper rubber inserts.
Known problems:
-Rear defroster switch is broken
-Clock doesn't work
-Dash is cracked, but has dash cover
-close inspection of paint reveals numerous flaws
-windsheild wipers work only on low speed (needs new WW motor)
-AC has new compressor, drier, txv, recent flush and conversion to R134/PAG - AC blew ice cold with R12, but works poorly with R134 - may be a defective txv.
I commute to work in this car every day. It is the most reliable car I have ever owned. It is smog-exempt and is very simple and inexpensive to repair. Appearance-wise, it is very presentable, both
inside and out. It gets A LOT of attention from people! These classic cars have all but disappeared from the road, so don't miss out! Clear CA title and current registration.
